2016 Charity Golf Day

Its first community involvement was at Madibatlou Primary School in Olifantsfontein where members physically went to the school to repair broken windows and painted the classrooms.

In 2004 the club decided out of its own goodwill: The 2004 resolution was to progressively offer financial aid to needy and destitute learners of Tembisa Secondary School as part of its social responsibility program.

The concept was developed and implemented. The nation building exercise was now in force. Bursaries to ten(10) needy Tembisa Secondary School students were awarded, this has continued consecutively ever since then.

The first occasion was blessed by the presence of the “Peoples Poet” Mr Mzwakhe Mbuli, he was guest of honor. He addressed and entertained cheering pupils.

In 2010 the club decided to register the NPO, a subsidiary of Bakgotsi Club and named it BAKGOTSI SOCIAL CLUB. This was to legitimize fundraising. This move was to access funds from other charity organizations with the intention to accumulate more funds and be able to assist learners up to tertiary level.

In 2010 a resolution was taken to increase this number of learners to 20 students per annum.

This annual program has progressed well to date. The club has assisted nearly 100 needy students to date from previously disadvantaged communities of Tembisa.

The club has managed to unearth highly talented/brilliant youth.

Baseleng Phumzile Lekgoathi is one such student. She obtained six distinctions in grade 12. Mathematics =91% Physics = 98% and she is currently studying ‘Aeronautical Engineering at Wits University’

Cindy Dlamini with two distinctions in English and Life Orientation is studying BCom degree at University of Johannesburg.

Thabang Ballicare Makadikoa with a distinction in Life Orientation and five level six subjects, is studying Geology at the University of Johannesburg.

These students performed extremely well in their endeavours. Their good stead managed to earn them financial aid from well established companies to study further.

As Bakgotsi Social Club it makes us proud that we gradually manage to change the lives of young men and woman in our society.

The community of Tembisa Secondary School regards us family. Their appreciation has been communicated to us and they grateful to be associated with Bakgotsi.
